For those of you interested in a guitar interface for your iPad. I can recommend the Focusrite iTrack pocket available on Amazon for $17.56. It was originally designed for the iPhone, but works fine with the iPad. It has a pair of microphones and an instrument input. The instrument input replaces the left mic when it’s plugged in. The instrument input will also accept line level signals. The unit comes with a lightning to micro-usb cable, but I use mine with a Camera Connection Kit and regular USB to micro-usb cable so I can power the iPad. Considering that most digital inputs are around $100, this is a real bargain. I paid $99 for the first one I bought. The newer iPhones don’t fit in the slot which is probably why it’s so cheap.
