Forgot about him. What a ride we are on.
ā¦because it keeps seeming to get heavier.
Nice. Since you brought up Noisia Radio, this track is from a good friend of mine (and former roommate). Check it out:
Heās really talented and currently signed to Teebeeās label. Hereās another one he did a few years ago:
This collection has several tracks recorded the same weekend with minilogue and volca sample featuring prominently.
@robertsyrett has buried this release in another thread.
It deserves a review and a vinyl run. āKnowledge of the Second Locationā and āThe Natural Habitat of Dreams,ā stood out.
For some reason it really bugs me that there are little gaps in between the songs as the listening experience is supposed to be uninterrupted. So I have uploaded it to youtube.
I was going to request this. Did you use a DJ style mixer and Traktor or something? I wish I knew the right people to get this played. It is one thing to produce track or make a mix. But to have a mix of your own tracks across a singular theme is on another level.
I also wanted to mention that it reminded me of DJ Spiderās work out of NYC. And I would say his sound is a specific Jersey/NYC ā maybe I would call it autumn/halloween ā techno. So it seems fitting that your theme is cityscapes.
I wish! I used the session view in Ableton and triggered scenes and one-shots using the mouse while it bounced all the sounds down to separate tracks in Arrangement view. This way I could focus more on the transitions between sections and effects send (which was going out to mutable instruments clouds.) Iām not going to lie, there was a fair bit of post bounce mixing, because the idea to tie everything together with field recordings came to me afterwards, but I kept the length and flow the same.
I looked up DJ Spider NYC and I can dig it! Seems like I found what to listen to while out walking the dog.
You might want to consider something like the Traktor Kontrol Z1. Itās small, durable, black, and you get Traktor Pro for free. You basically get a unit that has a headphone channel and two track channels, so you can cue up and crossfade. It is a digital mixer, so the use case is loading up your finished tracks and mixing them, or mixing anything else in. You can run the software without the controller, which I do sometimes if iām lazy, but its better to have the unit. I think they released the Z2 with traktor pro 3, but I find the Z1 with pro 2 is just fine.
It also has ableton link.
The production work late in this track is fantastic.
Eventually thatās exactly how I want to use the Octatrack, since it has two stereo inputs and cue outs, but the dedicated channel strips and EQ are really nice and obviously useful.
Thanks! I think a lot of the texture in that section comes from clouds, which suitably provided a sense of air.
Man thatās a lot of trouble to go to for a drum track Clever idea.
