I’m familiar with them. Same basic design, different tuning. There are variants of the hammered dulcimer in Eastern Europe, Latin America, India, Japan and China. I suppose it’s a natural evolution of the harp. Ultimately it led to the pianoforte which is basically a hammered dulcimer with keys to work the hammers. This allowed for playing more than two simultaneous notes. At one time the hammered dulcimer was the most common parlor instrument in the US but the development of the railroads made transporting pianos practical and the dulcimer was soon overshadowed by it’s bigger cousin.

You know, I never thought of it that way. Pianos are truly marvels of 19th century innovations. The end point of the common upright piano is small enough to be rolled around the house and through doorways.

Because we get a lot of commentary, history, and impressionistic considerations of sythscapes – of why rare tracks matter, what’s overrated. If anything, just crank it and stare agape as the synth gods shower us with the gritty grime. vidmate mobdro
