West Cat Oscillator

When I went to the computer history museum near NASA here in the SF Bay Area, I was struck by how much the “Analog Computers” of that era resembled Buchla synths, with their Banana cables and patch panel layout:

This one uses the same colored jacks of the music easel

And this one uses the bridge connectors that the easel comes with.

Yeah the museum is just up the road from the Century 16 Movie in Mt View off the Shoreline Blvd exit. It’s definitely worth the price of admission.

I decided to run this voice through the actual vactrol on the Make Noise LxD and then A/B the patch against it. Believe it or not, there were some interesting dynamics that were preserved in the softsynth version, that weren’t present running the carrier directly through the hardware filter. Excellent sound quality here with Audulus, although I don’t know enough to push the comparison into more challenging terrain.
