Massive CPU problems with crackling on iPad Pro 9.7 with iOS 11.3.1 (Edit: Fixed!)

Hi, All-

First post (Hi, Taylor!) and all I will contribute is bitching.

I really looked forward to the 4GB RAM in the new pros, and it’s pretty frustrating to have them not be able to render graphics with some of the more demanding audio apps like Audulus and Moog synths. I’d like to believe optimization can help, but these seem like basic media-layer tasks that should be protected in the iOS. It’s maddening to nudge an object on screen, and get more crackle than a popcorn popper. I’m actually going to break out my Air 1 and see how these apps perform. I would hate to think that there is a deficiency in pro architecture.

A quick update, since I’ve been working on this bug:

This appears to be a bug with Apple’s graphics code. I’m working on a bug report to send to them. Of course, it takes them a while to fix things, so I also have some ideas for modifying Audulus to work around the bug.

@DJB, which Moog app is causing problems? I know the Moog developer, and would be good to reproduce and discuss with him.

I should mention here, also, that this is now fixed
